First, split the hair into two even sections, top and bottom. Secure the top half out of the way so you can work with the bottom first. Use the end of a rat tail comb to separate a horizontal section of hair along the base of your neck, about 1-inch high. Use one rubberband, your comb, and gel to smooth the hair and tightly secure it in a ponytail in the middle. Continue dividing the hair in horizontal sections as you move up your head and securing the ponytails with rubberbands until you’ve finished off the entire bottom half of your hair.

Next, remove the rubberband from the lowest ponytail at the base of your neck. Separate the section into three parts and begin braiding, incorporating extensions as you braid. When you reach the next ponytail, incorporate it into your braid and continue doing this until you’ve added all the ponytails. Then, grab the top half section and join all the hair together at the top of your head. Secure with a rubberband.

Next, begin twisting the ponytail and wrapping it around the base to create your top knot. Secure it in place with a rubberband, and use the gel to lay your edges. Cover your head with mousse, cover it with a wrap, and hit it with heat from a blow dry to set the style.
